Decided to get the shop on Bonanza open again getting serious again
I have a business that involves photography, and at times I take photographs with nothing but that in mind. I see the subject and in my minds eye I see a product. The only way I am even able to be even somewhat successful at that is that I forget about that part of it. And I remember that photography is about light, and shadow, and color that simplicity is the answer. Thee are times when light and shadow and a dash of color is all I need.
While the left coast suffers through the worst drought in fifty years we have had an amazing amount of rain here in the Midwest so the yard as gotten out of control. so after an attempt to bring it back to manageable state, now hot and sweaty. I came inside to cool off. looking for something refreshing I came across this photo of a frozen bubble from a few years ago. It didn’t work I am still turning the thermostat down.
The light was low and I had 100 speed slide film yea some of us` still use it , when I saw these two Native American dancers This Pow Wow was being held in side and as with most pow wows the use of flash was prohibited They were waiting there turn watching the current dancers surrounded by spectators and other photographers and there was just no good composition to be had. Their turn had come and they started into the circle, I twisted the aperture ring to f-22 that brought the shutter speed down to just over one second. Two weeks later I saw the slide for the first time and that is what I loved and hated about film the waiting , but sometimes it’s worth it.
